Introduction
We have a dream. A dream of a world where dance, music, and other artistic activities empower everyone, regardless of their abilities.
Armed with brilliant ideas, skills and an incredible network of artists and pedagogues, we are ready to turn our dream into a reality. AND the need out there is evident.
Addressing the Need
People with disabilities face disproportionate social isolation and reduced physical activity (WHO 2022). This impacts not only their well-being but also poses challenges for their families. Navigating medical, developmental, and educational interventions, coupled with caregiving responsibilities, affects the mental health of parents.
Dance and music, beyond being social and artistic activities, offer transformative benefits. For individuals with disabilities, these pursuits become therapeutic interventions, promoting physical and emotional wellbeing.
Unfortunately, we are currently seeing budget cuts in the cultural sector in Sweden, affecting both children, youth, adults, seniors, and also professional artists and their practices.
The Journey
Embarking on this social entrepreneurial journey is no small feat. It requires time, patience, resilience, luck, and financial resources. Currently crafting activity plans, our next steps involve several local and national projects in Sweden targeting children, youth, adults, and seniors with disabilities.
The Exciting Opportunity
We are FUNKTIONARTS—a Swedish nonprofit organisation, an artistic & pedagogical platform with a mission. We aim to provide health-enhancing activities within culture for people with disabilities in Sweden and Spain. Our motivation aligns with promoting social inclusion and increasing accessibility, contributing to social sustainability in line with the United Nations' Agenda 2030.
FUNKTIONARTS Unites:
Our focus extends beyond acquiring skills. FUNKTIONARTS aims to create opportunities for meaningful encounters and engagement with various cultures and languages, including verbal, sign language, and body language.
Your Support Matters:
Seeking your support to cover necessary costs and propel us forward in this vital phase.
Goal and how funds will be used: a pilot project
Our goal is to raise 275,000 SEK (approx. 24, 300 EUR), funding vital aspects:
- Graphic ID and website development by Carola Ureta Martín, Visual Comunicator & Designer (25,000 SEK)
- Marketing, other website related costs, administrative expenses including bank services, accountant, copyright, and registration costs, rental of premises for workshops (30,000 SEK)
- Fee for Project Manager and seven artists to start the research phase of a project targeting teenagers and young adults with disabilities in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas across Sweden. This support is essential to get started while we await the response from Swedish public funding institutions. (200, 000 SEK)
- Covering travel costs associated with meetings to explore potential collaborative partnerships in Sweden and Andalucía (30,000 SEK)
Your Role and Impact:
Your contribution is more than support; it's an investment in a project with social impact and purpose that will have significance in the lives of many disabled people and families with a disabled family member.
"No words can express my feelings of gratitude. Just hearing my son's laughter makes me glad. He had a wonderful day after school. Greg is always calm and loving. Thank you so much for your efforts" (Caroline, mother's to a child with autism who participated in a prototype session)
Your support is crucial for our success. By becoming a part of our campaign, you become an integral part of FUNKTIONARTS' story and an advocate for creativity and innovation.
Call to Action:
Are you ready to be part of FUNKTIONARTS' story ? Support us by contributing today and share our campaign with your network. Do you have a family member with a disability, or do you know a friend, neighbour, or colleague who does?
Every share and every contribution us closer to realising our vision and creating something extraordinary.
Thank you for believing in us and supporting FUNKTIONARTS!
