Support Our Mom: Unjust Child Support Case

I have started this fundraiser for my mother. To try and sum up the reason why with little words will be difficult but not impossible.

In 2007, my little brother and I were taken away from our mother by the state of Tennessee because she had small amounts of THC in her system. We were placed with what was thought to be “Family Friends.” She had a choice to either let us be separated or be placed in the custody of the so-called “friends” for 3 months until the state settled things. Shortly after, the family learned that the state would give them some form of benefits for taking care of my brother and me. They ran with us and took our mom to court for child support.

About 14 years later, in 2021, a plan was made to go back into our mom’s custody without telling the family that was taking care of my brother and me. It all worked out well, and now, 4 years later, the state and the other family are taking our mom to court for child support when we are already in her custody. I am already 19, and my little brother is almost 18. If she doesn’t pay the amount that the state wants, she will be put in jail and have to serve anywhere from 6 months or more. We are just asking for help as we do not have the money to pay the absurd amount they are asking. If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Small update, if our mother is able to pay $2500 by the end of this month then they will accept that to hold for short term payment and not arrest her.
