Thank you so much for clicking on our page and taking the time to learn about our situation.
Two years ago, our lives were turned upside down. We were forced to leave our home when construction began, and our water heater failed at the same time. What we believed would be a renovation quickly became something much bigger — and much worse — than we ever imagined.
We temporarily moved in with my father-in-law for about a year and a half. Later, my mother-in-law graciously opened her home to us so we could have a house to ourselves. While we are incredibly grateful for our family’s support, we have continued paying a $1,300 monthly mortgage on a home we cannot safely live in.
Due to a legal settlement and signed NDAs, we cannot name the contractor involved. Please understand that we are not able to share those details, and we kindly ask that no one comment names on our posts, as we cannot risk further legal action.
Since leaving the home, we have had multiple contractors, home inspectors, and adjusters assess the property. Every single one has said the same thing: this is one of the worst construction jobs they have ever seen.
Extensive mold has been discovered throughout the home. While our homeowners' insurance was able to provide some financial assistance toward the loan, it only scratches the surface of what is needed. We are now facing two options:
• Spend between $135,000–$156,000 attempting to repair the extensive damage
OR
• Tear the house down completely and rebuild it properly so it meets all safety guidelines and building standards
After much consideration, we believe tearing it down and rebuilding is the safest long-term solution for our family. To do that, we must first dismantle everything — and that process alone is overwhelming financially.
We never imagined we would be in this position. We have tried to handle this privately and responsibly, but the burden has become too heavy to carry alone.
If you feel led to give, share, or pray for us, we are deeply grateful. Every donation will go directly toward paying down the mortgage and helping us move forward with rebuilding a safe home for our family.
Over the coming days, we will be posting updates and photos of different areas of the home so you can see the reality of what we are facing.
Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for simply taking the time to read our story. It truly means more than we can express.
