Support Our Immigrant Neighbors During Covid-19

45536074_1583812723331022_r.jpegBoston Workers Circle Immigrant Justice Committee is teaming up with BIJAN (the Boston Immigrant Justice and Accompaniment Network) to house and assist immigrants in need - especially those being released from detention.

As a community, we are helping people get on their feet by providing some of the necessities of basic human existence  (housing, food, clothes, cell phones, T passes, etc.) that people who are being released from detention don't have. The need is greater than ever as Covid-19 is putting many people's jobs and income at further risk. These funds will be used during this crisis to help support a variety of needs including rent, groceries, and other basic needs.

As of today, we have:
- Purchased a cell phone for an immigrant seeking political asylum from Uganda;
- Raised the first and last months’ rent for a couple who received political asylum from Venezuela so they could start their new lives on the right foot;
- Provided one month’s worth of rent for a young gentleman who is struggling to find a steady job
- And we are currently providing food and daily living expenses for a man from Chile who escaped political violence while he is living with a group of Worker’s Circle members in their home.

All of this important effort takes lots of volunteer work (email us if you'd like to volunteer!) and yes, money. The contributions you make will go directly towards assisting some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

At a time when immigrant rights are under attack all over the country, let's fight back together, in community, by providing direct assistance to those who need it.

Donations are not currently tax deductible.
