Please support our immigrant communities. Long Beach has strong Latino, Filipino, and Cambodian populations, and we have watched our neighbors and friends be terrorized by ICE. Many of those impacted are students at Long Beach Community College. Some have reported being afraid to attend classes in fear of being picked up by ICE or leaving undocumented parents home alone. Further, it is no longer safe to assume that the federal government will not pry into the private data of students. This, in turn, creates hesitation in applying for financial aid and grants, causing more barriers for our immigrants and children of immigrants to access education.
With the start of the semester just a month away, please give what you can to welcome our most impacted students back with care packages that will be distributed by DREAM Services prior to the start of classes. Let's SHOW UP for our community in times of need.
