Support Our Dad’s Fight for New Lungs
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Daniella. My dad, Frank De Rose, is in the process of getting on the lung transplant wait list. Years ago, my father was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis—a serious lung disease that causes tissue in the lungs to thicken and scar. This makes it hard for people to breathe and affects their everyday lives.
Five years ago, around the time of my wedding, my dad started having a harder time breathing. He’s been on continuous oxygen ever since.
Over the last few years, he has maintained good health and has lost over 60 pounds through diet and medication. Last month, my father made his goal weight in order to start testing to get on the transplant wait list.
This past week, my dad’s health has taken a turn for the worst. His team of doctors are trying to expedite the transplant process. They hope to perform a successful double lung transplant within the next couple of weeks.
For those of you who know my dad, he is one of the best people in the world. He always puts his family first. I hope my parents are able to get their lives back once my dad gets his double lung transplant. For years, they haven’t been able to go out for a nice dinner or take a much needed vacation. I want to see my dad continue to be the best Nonno (grandpa) to my 3-year-old daughter, Valentina. She has only ever known my father with an oxygen machine. I would love for her to know him without it.
I’ve created this Gofundme page to help ease the financial burden of medical expenses my parents will incur during this process. My mom will be taking time off from work to be by my father’s side as she has done these past years.
Your donations will help cover medical expenses that are not covered by their insurance, help support living expenses while my mom is out of work, and help with my dad’s post-transplant care and recovery.
My family and I thank you for your contribution.
With love and gratitude,
Daniella, Frankie, & Family
