A Real Piece A’ Shit is a cowboy movie that we're making, and hopefully you’re helping us.

Hi, I'm Sarah, and I wanted to direct a movie (I have for a while), and rather than waiting around for someone to give me permission, I’m making it happen. So, with borrowed equipment, an original script, and a cast stuffed with upcoming stars from Chicago's comedy scene, we're making our very own (Mid)Western!

We officially wrapped principal photography, so now we're moving on to post-production! In the coming months we'll be editing our short film, recording and composing soundtrack, and figuring out how to release it into the world.

Our little short film is a love letter to this city. It's a love letter to the history of film itself. As a genre, Westerns are part of our country’s film tradition, and also part of its violent myth-making tradition. We're poking fun at Westerns while playing dress up with its aesthetic ideals. This is not just a love letter to Segio Leone and Clint Eastwood, but to John Waters and David Lynch and the Coen brothers.

But, like, let’s cut the cerebral crap. Mostly it was inspired by the fact that there is way too much poop on the street where I live.

This project's gonna be silly, it’s gonna be ambitious, and it’s gonna be weird.
