Update July 3rd 2026: We are opening up the GoFundMe again to start fundraising for a 2nd billboard. We hope to get this billboard up in Marin County by or around August 1st. The goal has been adjusted to $19,000. We understand this is a financially stressful time for most of us. If you can donate and/or share, that would be most appreciated.
Here’s a summary of what we raised in May 2026 for the June billboard:
Total raised: $8983
Cost of billboard: $7850
GoFundMe fees: 347.94
Remaining funds from prior cycle: $785.06 (will be applied towards 2nd billboard)

Thank you.
Update June 4th 2026: The billboard was posted on Monday June 1st! It is located in West Sacramento, on the stretch of the freeway where Hwy 50/Business 80 are the same. It is past the Jefferson Blvd exit and will be visible to Eastbound traffic. Look to the left side of the freeway! I updated the GoFundMe page with an image of the billboard and added a map of the location. AI was not used in any aspect of the design. That is a real picture of Newsom. Thank you to everyone who donated!

Update May 20th 2026: We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed. We have now raised enough funds for one billboard, and because we would not be able to secure a second billboard within the necessary timeframe, we are pausing the fundraiser to avoid collecting funds without a defined purpose. Thank you for your support and generosity. If anything changes, we will resume the fundraiser.
Original fundraiser description from May 13th, 2026:
On May 12, 2026, Governor Newsom’s office informed cabinet secretaries to move forward with implementing a 4-day-per-week RTO (Return-to-Office) mandate beginning July 1, 2026. In doing so, the administration has bypassed ongoing collective bargaining discussions with state worker unions, which have explicitly placed telework on the bargaining agenda for the 2026 contract cycle. SEIU Local 1000 has already filed an unfair labor practice charge with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), alleging the state failed to bargain in good faith.
Telework has repeatedly been shown to save the state money, reduce pollution, improve retention, and support recruitment. In the current budget environment, expanding telework is a practical, evidence-based solution — not rolling it back.
The public deserves to know that this mandate will increase costs for taxpayers alike while undermining environmental goals and workforce stability.
To raise awareness, we — California state workers — are organizing another bold and visible response: a billboard in a high-traffic Sacramento location highlighting the real impact of this mandate and its consequences for working Californians. We successfully launched a similar billboard campaign last year, and we’re doing it again because the stakes are even higher now. The image above is from last year’s effort.
We are seeking approximately $10,000 to cover:
• Billboard production
• One month of leasing
• Installation and management fees
If fundraising goals are not met, all donations will be refunded.
