Help us make our AFROFUTURIST ART FAIR more accessible!
Blacktopia is a multimedia sci-fi series set at the dawn of the 22nd century, in a world reshaped by rising oceans. We follow the family of Destin Imani, a young Black inventor, who protects a matriarchal undersea sanctuary from saboteurs - both inside and out.
In partnership with The Roots and Wings Project, Syllble Studios, and Stonehaven Studios, we are preparing to launch the first annual Afrofuturist Art Fair at the Buena Vista Branch of Burbank Public Library on June 10, 2025, which will celebrate the book launch of Blacktopia’s sequel, written by Kyle Hinton. This event will feature exhibitions from visual artists such as Fabrice Guerrier and Tyra Grove, as well as music from nationally-recognized artists such as Justen Ross and Johnny Tsunami. This program is supported in part by a Community Arts Grant from the City of Burbank.
