Support Our 44 Year Old Cousin, Fight Stage 4 Bowel Cancer

Donation protected
We are raising money for our wonderful cousin Liam who was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in Summer 2024.

Liam is currently undergoing his fourth round of gruelling chemotherapy. He’s 44, a father of two and self-employed, and the cancer is having a devastating effect on his family. The chemo has been so intensive his wonderful partner Jenna has also been off work to care for Liam for the last six months.

We are an incredibly close knit family and it’s been heart wrenching being powerless to help. So we’re raising money to help support Liam and his family by easing the huge financial burden they face as they continue to fight this evil disease.

We’ll update on additional fundraising activities and how Liam is doing on this page.

Any donation you can spare is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Leyli and family

"To everyone who has donated to the go fund me page for Liam, I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, especially to Leyli and family for setting this up ❤️ leyli is the amazing owner of Babhaus who are raising money this Saturday to support her big Cousin Liam through the most difficult time of his life

I’m June 2024, Liam was experiencing stomach pains and fatigue which led to him visiting his GP and A&E department. Initially Liam was told it could be gallstones or an ulcer, but no mention of bowel cancer was considered at this point. Liam continued to have symptoms and it was only when he was given a colonoscopy that we were given the dreaded news that he had bowel cancer. That day will forever be engrained in our memory as our world as we knew it was completely turned upside down from there onwards.

Since then, Liam has had numerous hospital admissions, where he has battled sepsis twice and numerous infections that has had a detrimental impact on his long term health and daily living. Liam was required to have an emergency ileostomy to save his life due to the cancer causing a bowel obstruction which nearly killed him. Liam takes all what he’s been through in his stride and always reminds me to be thankful for those we love and appreciate everyday, as tomorrow isn’t guaranteed ❤️

We have since been told that liam has stage 4 bowel cancer which has metastasised/spread to his lymph nodes, liver and stomach. Liam is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment at velindre hospital and on-going care through City hospice, who provide support to the family as a whole. This support has been invaluable since we were given the dreaded news that Liams cancer is incurable and inoperable and that the treatment he is receiving is palliative, with the aim being to prolong his life .

Liam continues to receive gruelling chemotherapy on a fortnightly basis at velindre hospital. The side effects of chemo are brutal, causing liam to spend days in bed trying to recover before the next round of chemo begins. Liam will continue to have Ct scans to review his progress with the hope that the chemo is working and that he is responding well to it

On top of all this, we have been informed by Liams oncologist that Liam has a BRAF mutation which makes his cancer more aggressive and harder to treat in comparison to those who don’t have this mutation. we are looking at alternative treatments and meeting with a top consultant in London in February, who we pray can shed some light on any new treatment/trials that may be an option for Liam going forward

Although life has been extremely tough for us as a family, we try to focus on the positives in life and remind ourselves daily that miracles can and do happen. We also have the most amazing family and friends who are constantly praying for Liam, which gives us hope during the dark days when we need it most.

Those who know Liam will know that he is the kindest most genuine person you will meet. I met Liam eleven years ago when he came into mine and my daughters life. Since then, he has looked after me and always put me on a pedestal which I am forever grateful for. Liam has shown me what true love is and that we will always be there for one another through the good days and the bad days ❤️

Liam has worked his whole adult life, always providing and grafting for his family to make our lives better. However, since being diagnosed with cancer, Liam has not been well enough to work which has had huge financial implications on us due to the destruction that cancer causes. Just before Liams diagnosis, life was going pretty well for us as a family of 4. We had bought a house which we were in the process of renovating, with no idea of the nightmare we would be faced with when Liam was diagnosed only 8 months later. It is only when cancer affects you personally, that you can truly understand the overall impact and severity it has on your life and how life can change for any of us in a heartbeat.

This go fund me is greatly appreciated by Liam, Jenna and our families . The kindness and generosity of those who have donated, shared the link and sent us messages, have touched us deeply. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and thank you to Leyli and Babhaus for holding this amazing event for Liam. We are forever grateful".

Lots of love always, Liam, Jenna & family ❤️❤️❤️
