Support Orphaned Children in Uganda
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nagmeh. I'm an adoptive and a biological mother. There aren't many things that I care about more than children, and when I learnt that Uganda has over 3 million orphans, I felt compelled to create this page with hopes that together we can make a difference.
To think that 3 million children are without a home in Uganda due to reasons such as poverty, conflict and disease, is staggering. I live in Sydney, a city of 5 million people. It's heartbreaking to imagine more than half of the population of Sydney as children without a home, but this is a reality.
Through this page I'm raising funds for Babies Uganda, an amazing NGO in Zinga Island. Let me tell you about them...
The NGO is run by 3 women from Spain. Their love and respect for the children stands out a mile away. Whether on their website or on their Instagram page, they affirm how blessed they feel to walk alongside these beautiful children, even though the conditions aren't always easy.
Because they are from Spain, donations go directly into the NGO's account and are in EUROS. They communicate in Spanish, but you can translate their website to English using Chrome, or ask me any questions.
To date, they have these initiatives:
- Kikaya House - an orphanage where children live
- Kikaya Junior School and Kikaya Senior School - schools for various ages, including a high school where older children learn skills that equip them with self-sufficiency to find work
- CEVIC - a school for children with disabilities
- Chloe Medical Centre - a clinic that serves the entire community of the area for free and sees over 1000 patients every month
- Babies Home - another orphanage they support
- Art and Sporting facilities - an art centre and sporting field that give children exposure to arts and sports
So what do donations translate to? Here are a few examples:
- 15 EUR ($23 AUD) covers the costs for one month of schooling for a child at Kikaya School.
- 125 EUR ($200 AUD) covers the medical expenses for treating 35 people at the Chloe Medical Clinic – a clinic run by Babies Uganda that treats more than 1000 people per month from the community for free.
- 325 EUR ($500 AUD) covers the cost of 2 children attending a full year of schooling at Kayika school.
