My name is Chelsey and here's my daughters story.

Oriella's Journey

In February our daughter went in for routine blood work. Once them results came in, I received a phone call stating; Chelsey, your daughters liver enzymes are super high, they're at 917 and 722, you need to immediately take her out of school and have them redrawn. Well, my heart sank and tears fell, to say I was a wreck is an understatement. But by time I got to the school I cleaned my tears and put a smile on, to be that strong (super mom). Oriella, then says mom I just had labs done, why do I need to go back? Being strong, I said, babygirl they need to check your levels again. She says am I going to be okay, tears fill my eyes (sunglasses on), yes baby, mom and dad are with you every step of the way, WE GOT THIS. When the new labs came back the Dr's knew it wasn't a fluke, something was going on! Our family physician than ordered an ultrasound of her abdomen. Once the ultrasound was complete, we were asked to sit still, our Dr came in sat down and looked us in the eyes (holding her composure well) saying, Mom your daughters organs are swollen, her spleen, liver and gallbladder. My heart broke, shattered... why my child? What is wrong with her I asked, Dr looked at Oriella and me as I'm holding her tight, she says "I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong with your child (at that point we all sobbed). Dr did say but I'm here if you need to talk and I'll be transferring you to GR. We gained our composure and exited the room.

A few weeks later, we get in with GR they do a telehealth with us and say we need to do a mrcp/mri and a liver biopsy on your child. Wait what? My child is 10 she needs a liver biopsy? Dr says yes, to complete her diagnoses. So that was set up for beginning of May. After that appt on May 9th we got the devastating, heartbreaking and terrifying phone call of her diagnoses! Our baby has 2 different liver diseases, she's at fibrosis/chirosis of the liver already, plus she has portal hypertension (causes organs to swell). With her one liver disease she is high risk for bile ducts cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), than her meds put her at higher risk of skin cancer and lymphoma. Also, during her mri the Dr's found 3 fluid filled cyst on her spine, which she is now referred to a neurosurgeon for that. There is NO treatment for one of her liver diseases, the other one she is currently being treated for, but she will never fully recover (unless she recieves a liver transplant), but, she can go into remission, which we are in high hopes for.

When I tell you, she has been the absolute STRONGEST out of us all, I mean that.

Before any treatment, oriella was showing signs of fatigue, jaundice, stomach pain left side below ribs and lower right back pain and bloody noses daily.

Her journey doesn't stop here, the drs confirmed again yesterday that she is at early stages of cirrhosis of the liver, thats stage 4 of liver FAILURE .... there is NO CURE! Please pray for us. Any little bit will help, as we are traveling back and forth 4.5hrs one way 1-2x monthly to the children's hospital. She's our baby!!!
