I’m Vianney Forewah, a passionate innovator and community leader from Buea, Cameroon, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request. This April 17 - 18, I’ve been invited to Makerfaire Cairo to showcase the BrailleRap — a groundbreaking open-source Braille embosser designed to empower visually impaired communities by making Braille literacy accessible and affordable. But to get there, I need your support.

BrailleRap isn’t just a device—it’s a lifeline. For millions of visually impaired individuals, Braille is the key to education, independence, and dignity. Yet traditional Braille printers are prohibitively expensive, leaving many communities underserved. BrailleRap changes this. By demonstrating this open source innovation in Cairo, I aim to inspire a global movement of makers, educators, and advocates to adopt and adapt this solution, creating ripples of change for those who need it most.

As the Open Tech Lead of the #defyhatenow initiative in Cameroon, I train communities in using open-source tech to combat online hate speech and incitement to violence. In a world where division spreads quickly, tools like BrailleRap aren’t just about literacy—they’re about equity, dignity, and building bridges of understanding. This invitation to Makerfaire Cairo is a pivotal moment to share how grassroots innovation can foster peace.

While the event covers lodging, I urgently need to raise €1,000 to cover:
