Support Ohíya Walker's New York Fashion Dreams
Ohíya is raising funds to help cover expenses for a two-week pre-college fashion course in New York City. They were selected for a prestigious summer fashion program at Sotheby's Institute of Art in July. The application process was intense and competitive. We are proud of Ohíya and all their accomplishments. They are growing up so fast and are ready to take on the world.
It will cost more than $10,000 for travel, dorm lodging, food, and tuition. $9,000 will be used for tuition and dormitory and $1,000-plus will cover travel, food, and any other expenses. We are unable to use 529 funds for this program, unfortunately.
Not many Native American creatives get this opportunity, and Ohíya is doing their best to change that narrative. They’re a straight-A student, local Native youth council executive board member, and National Honor Society member. They are also working on fashion materials for an upcoming school fashion show and for an out-of-state Native art project happening later this year.
We will host a variety of fundraisers to bid, win, and purchase brand new Indigenous-made bling, bougiewear, books, medicine bundles, and more. We’ll also gladly accept your generous donations in support of Ohíya. Wopila/miigwech/thank you for helping Ohíya reach their dreams!
