Having grown up in a family of first responders, I know firsthand the hardships the downed officer and family endures when tragedy hits home.
My name is Julie Bargabos, the Director of Safety at Associated Industrial Riggers Corp., headquartered in East Syracuse, NY, where Evan's brother works and is a valued member of our team. Through this GoFundMe platform, we want to do whatever we can to support Officer Evan Farewell and his family during this difficult time.

On the morning of October 29, 2026, Syracuse Police Officer Evan Farewell demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness while responding to a house fire on Jamesville Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers learned that a family was trapped inside the burning home. Without hesitation, and before fire crews could arrive, Officer Farewell and two fellow officers entered the home through heavy smoke and intense flames in an effort to rescue the children trapped inside.
The courageous actions of all three officers reflect the very best of what it means to serve and protect our community. Unfortunately, Evan's bravery came at a tremendous personal cost.
Officer Farewell is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment for severe smoke inhalation, respiratory burns, as well as burns to his face and both hands. As he begins what will be a long and difficult road to recovery, we hope to come together as a community to support him and his family.
We are hoping to organize a fundraiser to help ease any potential financial burden on Evan and his family while he focuses on healing and recovery.
All donations will go directly to Evan and his immediate family to assist with any expenses that may arise during his recovery.
To ensure complete transparency, the fundraiser will be established so that only Evan or his designated family members have access to withdraw the donated funds.
Evan and his fellow officers put the safety and lives of others before their own, without hesitation. Their actions are a powerful reminder of the risks our first responders face every day and the sacrifices they are willing to make for the people they serve.
Now, we have an opportunity to come together as a community and show Evan and his family the same compassion, generosity, and support that he showed to those in need.
Whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or simply keeping Evan and his family in your thoughts and prayers, every gesture of support is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you for standing behind Officer Farewell and his family as he begins his journey toward recovery.
