Let me introduce myself. My name is Octavia: Finding Strength in the Struggle
At just 37 years old, I never imagined I’d be facing the biggest challenge of my life. As a licensed massage therapist, I built my career around helping others find relief and healing. My days were filled with meaningful connections and the satisfaction of knowing my hands brought comfort to those in pain.
But a few weeks ago, everything changed. I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, at Stage 3. The news was devastating—not only because of the physical and emotional toll, but because the treatment plan was immediate and intensive. Beginning with 6 months of weekly chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, that all will take a toll on my body, leaving me too discomforted to continue working.
“I’ve always been independent,” I said. “To go from being the one helping others, to being the one who needs help… it’s humbling.”
Without my steady income, myself, my husband, and daughter (13) are now struggling to keep up with everyday expenses. Medical bills continue to pile up, and household bills—rent, utilities, groceries—have become overwhelming. The stress of financial insecurity weighs heavily on us, compounding an already exhausting battle.
But in the face of this hardship, I remain hopeful. My spirit is strong. My dream is to return to work one day and be able to help people again. Right now, though, I need a helping hand.
This is where you come in.
With your support, I can focus on healing instead of worrying about how we’ll keep the lights on or put food on the table. Every donation—no matter the size—provides real relief and real hope for myself as I battle this fight for my life.
I know I’m not alone in this battle. So please stand with me in this time of need.
Give today. Be my strength while I find mine.
