Support Obi's Path to Healing

Donation protected
Obi, as many may know, is one of a kind. He’s more than just a pet. He’s my best friend, companion, provides emotional support, and has been there through the toughest times of my life.

Due to recent unknown circumstances, he has lost his ability to walk. The playful pup that could play fetch with you from sun up to sun down and never had issues with keeping up on long walks/hikes no longer has use of his hind legs.

As many know, I have decided to continue this path in the military, and he has been in the care of my wonderful parents. But due to financial difficulties, Obi can’t receive the care he needs, and the only option is to come here and ask for your help. He will need imaging, labs, other examinations, MRI, physical therapy, and possibly a wheelchair if this is permanent.

Family and friends, anything will help. Obi is 8 years old and has so much more life to live. He is a one-of-a-kind dog and my best friend. I don’t know where I’d be had he not been there all these years, especially the last year with both of us recovering from traumatic experiences. He deserves the world, and I wish I could give it to him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Keep him in your prayers, as we hope the vets can treat him and find a diagnosis.

Update as of 1300 EST 30APR: He’s paralyzed from his mid back and down based on the exam. No full diagnosis yet but they are running tests and imaging. From there we will figure out if we need surgery or other interventions. Obi’s in a lot of pain and needs a lot of prayer right now.

Update 1400: Update, Obi has a slipped disc that is pinching off nerves. Which is causing paralysis to his mid back to hind legs. He is in a lot of pain and being held at the hospital for labs and being monitored. He will need an MRI and other interventions. Which now will be no less than 2k …before surgery if he will need it. Please donate and help any way you guys can.

Update 1800: Obi is being rushed to a neurological clinic in Tustin. The specialist is going to examine Obi and run an MRI to see exactly what we are dealing with. Surgery will be decided by the evening. Please keep sharing!! Anything helps. Right now we are looking at $4k before surgery. And please keep praying.

Update 2200: MRI results are back. Obi is going into surgery within the hour. The injury is 4 areas of his spine in the disc. T12-T3. It’s a severe injury. After surgery the vet said he will be watched for the next couple days to see how he does. And she will send him home if she feels he is doing well Hopefully the surgery goes smoothly and he makes a full recovery. Please continue praying for Obi and our family. I’d never wish this on anyone’s pet. But especially Obi doesn’t deserve this. The sweetest, most kind dog He deserves a longer life than this. Thank you to those who are continuing to donate. This means the world to me. The total we are looking at for Obi is at $9k.

Updated 0200 01MAY: Obi successfully made it through surgery. The surgeon is very confident in a positive recovery. However Obi still has a chance of 50/50 with walking fully again. This is an injury that was gradual and Obi unfortunately suffered more than the surgeon expected. There was a lot of bleeding and some bruising. Now he will be monitored until they can clear him to come home.

Update 1300: The surgeon called for the daily update and said he’s doing ok. There’s still no feeling in his hind legs...but that doesn’t mean it won’t possibly come back later on. They’re monitoring Obi around the clock to make sure he’s not deteriorating. As long as he isn’t, he will be able to hopefully come home tomorrow. Right now it is just a long waiting game. Hopefully he can come home soon.

1700 EST 02MAY: Obi is finally coming home! We are so blessed to see him pushing through and being in the best spirits so far. He is able to eat and drink on his own. Still he can’t walk and shows no signs of feeling in his hind legs, but he is happy to be headed home currently. We are not in the clear yet as he is in the “danger zone” for survival still as there’s a condition where the spine could potentially start dying post operation due to the trauma of the injury. Please pray he makes it to Monday and then next Wednesday 14MAY for his follow up appointment with the surgeon. I will be flying out this next week to stay with him and family through to the 19th. Thank you again o everyone continuing to donate and share the word. We love and appreciate you.

Update 04MAY: Obi is recovering so so so well so far. He can’t walk and is still paralyzed from the waist down, but he is getting daily physical therapy and all the love he needs right now. He is adjusting well given the circumstances and smiles through it all. Another awesome point is that he is able to pass bowels on his own! So his internal organs are functioning properly. He still needs help with inducing urination but that’s one small extra step. Our little Obi si smiling so much and is very lively today. Continue praying for a safe and speedy recovery. And May the 4th be with you!

Update 27MAY: Mr Obi Wan is doing so well post-op. We are already almost a month in after everything happened. He still shows no sign of feeling in his hind legs. But we are hopeful! The surgeon still gave us a 50/50 chance and that’s better odds than none. He’s happy as can be and got to lay out on the porch couch with grandma the other day. I know he misses being snuggled and hates being in his crate all day. But minimal movement is best right now for a strong recovery! The incision is healing well as well. Everything is looking up for our lil guy. Thank you to everyone who is reaching out and continuing to help us reach our goal to cover Obi’s funds.
