Sacred Tattoo has been a pillar of the Oakland tattoo community, and the Oakland community in general, since 1996, representing the Town and spreading love and creativity. So many community members have benefitted from their craft, which they've always shared with anyone who walks through the door.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 20th, just one week before Thanksgiving, someone broke into the shop and stole every tool they had. No machines, no ink was left. Over $10,000 worth of goods were taken from this small business, with a small staff that depends on it to feed their families. In addition to this, items of immense sentimental value were taken. The owner of the shop has been building, trading, and collecting tattoo machines for 26 years, and his entire collection was stolen, including his first machine ever.
Sacred had just moved into a new building and completed expensive renovations, returning to Broadway and hoping to begin a new chapter. Now all of that is in jeopardy. They have always donated to the community through the Toys for Tats program, the Alameda County Food Bank, and a number of other community initiatives.
Very few POC-owned small businesses have been able to survive in Oakland over the past couple decades, let's help ensure they can keep sharing their craft with all of Oakland's diverse community. Please donate and share to keep this Oakland business running and keep our Town beautiful. If you love Oakland, you love Sacred Tattoo. Share the love!
All donations go straight to Sacred Tattoo and will be withdrawn and managed by the owner, James Oey.
