O' Ryan Mogensen was diagnosed with a rare type of Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) at the age of 12. A tumor was growing in the left side of his facial bone. He has been the first one to ever have been diagnosed with this type of AVM. On June 5, 2020, the tumor ruptured. It shattered the bone and caused nerve damage. He was placed on life support until they could safely remove the tumor without putting his life in more danger. This has severely impacted his life tremendously as he has not had a pain-free life since! Since then, he has had multiple surgeries to repair nerves, cut out nerves, and remove teeth due to being unable to heal. He has developed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, which can be deadly amidst the other complications.

O' Ryan has also had interventional radiology surgeries to prevent any active bleeding and Bleomycin injections to try and slow down any tumors from returning. Recently, on August 12, 2025, O' Ryan was hospitalized with uncontrollable pain and bleeding from his mouth. He has developed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome again for the second time. Each time that this develops, it can be much more deadly and painful.

Ryan is currently 17 years old and wishes nothing more than to just be a normal teenager in school with his friends. He loves school as he is a very intelligent young man. We are unsure how long this hospital stay will be, as every previous stay has always been lengthy. We are reaching out to our community for help to support our family in this time of need with some financial relief.
