Dear friends & loved ones,
In July Aly took Nur to the ER one night and unexpectedly ended up in the ICU. After running a battery of tests, the care team determined her kidneys were working at less than 15% their expected level of function. Nur was released from the hospital a few weeks later at which point the doctors told Aly & Ibri that she would likely need to start dialysis within 1-2 years. Unfortunately just a couple weeks later, following additional testing and monitoring, her doctors called Nur back to the hospital to start dialysis immediately.
The family will remain at the hospital for the next few weeks as they learn how to perform at-home dialysis and how to care for Nur's other medical needs moving forward. Longer term, the care team is working with Aly & Ibri to improve Nur's overall health so that in the coming year she will be a strong candidate for a kidney transplant.
We are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and encouragement you’ve shown Nur, Aly, Ibri & Zayd during this incredibly difficult time. At first we wanted to set up a meal train, but between Nur's special dietary needs and the need to move between 2 hospitals over the upcoming weeks, there were just too many logistics; however, if you would prefer to support Nur and her family with meals or by some other means, please reach out to Diana or Lindsay to coordinate.
Your kindness—whether through a donation, a message, or simply keeping them in your thoughts—means more than words can say. Thank you for standing with them and reminding them that they are not walking this journey alone.
With love,
Diana and Lindsay - on behalf of Aly, Ibri, Zayd, and Nur
