North Park School for Innovation is an elementary school in the Columbia Heights Public School ISD #13. Our small community is built on care, compassion, and connection. We are grateful for the support many of you have provided as it has provided the resources for us to keep food in the homes of our affected families. Many of our families continue to face extremely difficult circumstances that have made it hard to get back on their feet. This is a process and we are shifting our focus to assist families with rent payments. Most of these parents were out of work for several months and will require support to catch up with their obligations. Unfortunately, many of them are facing eviction notices.
The good news is we have a benefactor, the Wilson Foundation, that has agreed to match all donations made to our district schools and community mutual aid up to $500,000 to help with rental assistance. Our community has received more than 400 requests for such assistance. We are certain if we can help for a month or two longer that our families will be independent again.
If you have already donated to this cause, we thank you and hope you are willing and able to donate again and to post a link to this page on your social media accounts and other modes of communication. With your help Columbia Heights and our school have turned the word “neighbor” into a verb. Please help us finish strong by helping all of our families get back to their lives.
