Mutual aid can be about redistributing funds, but even more importantly, it's about creating networks and systems of care, it allows us to tangibly act to support one another and address individual and community needs. It's clear our the systems designed to support those in need do not do enough and are not stable and secure. All we have is each other but we are *so* powerful, especially when we work together.
After working with youth and families in community mental health for over a decade, I can attest that we can prevent so many traumatic experiences and mental health issues from ever arising by ensuring everyone’s basic needs are met. This is why I’m asking you to please consider a donation to Nita’s Love Train.
Nita’s Love Train has been supporting Black and brown single-parent families experiencing hardship in Chicago since May 2020. The Love Train provides emergency funds and resources to families experiencing hardship, including regular support for diapers, groceries, rent assistance, and so much more. The Love Train also organizes broader giving events, including for back to school as well as in extreme weather conditions (distributing water and fans or heaters, for example). You can read more about Nita's Love Train in the news here: https://www.citybureau.org/newswire/2025/4/14/young-mothers-chicago-nitas-love-train
Thank you so much in advance for your donation, any amount you give is a demonstration of love and strength in community and will go a long way in helping keep families safe and secure.
