My name is Nishaad Knights. For the past couple of years, my family has been splintered due to some less than ideal circumstances that even 5 years later, are continuing to take an ever-increasing toll on me and my mom. I'm currently in school to just... give myself a better chance of surviving, but as of April 6th 2026, my life has taken a bit of a drastic turn.

My father, who is unable to reconcile with the fact that the way he raised my brother and I have had negative effects on our health as adults regardless of his intentions, and whom I currently still live with, is becoming a problem. For the first time since 2021, I've had to reach out to a mental health crisis hotline expressing fears that I would do something I would deeply regret, and those thoughts terrified me.

I've been in therapy for the last 4 years, and have made significant progress dealing with my depression, anxiety, and ADHD, and instead of respecting my progress, he has shown that not only does he respect me as a person, but he's got this notion that I'm "unwilling to be held accountable" for some nebulous thing.

My childhood has not defined me, but I need recourse. The goal of this gofundme is to give myself a better living situation for my own safety.
