Hi, my name is Nina, and I’m a single mother of 9.
Let me start by saying: I know struggle. Life has never been easy, but I’ve always tried to do the right things— to stay strong, raise my children with love, and never make excuses. I don’t like asking for help, and this is incredibly hard for me to share. But right now, we’re in a place I never imagined we’d be.
On the morning of June 8, 2025, around 6 a.m., I was woken up by my youngest son — his bed was on fire. We tried to put it out, but the flames spread quickly. Within moments, we had to evacuate. By the time the firefighters arrived, the fire had engulfed our entire home in flames.
We had only been living there for five months. The fire was caused by an electrical issue, and we lost most of our belongings, memories, clothing, school supplies, furniture, and daily essentials. It’s heartbreaking to say, but we are truly starting over from nothing.
As if that weren’t enough, our landlord has did not report the fire to Section 8, which made it hard to receive an emergency move voucher. He’s also ignoring all communication and withholding our security deposit, leaving us stuck in limbo with no support from the system that’s supposed to help us in times like this.
We’re still displaced, trying to find stability again while I do everything I can to keep my kids safe and strong. These funds will go directly toward moving expenses, clothing, furniture, and essentials to help my family begin rebuilding our lives.
We are incredibly grateful to be alive — that alone is a blessing I will never take for granted. If you’re able to help in any way — through donations, sharing our story, or keeping us in your prayers — it would mean the world to us. Every bit makes a difference.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
— Nina ❤️
