The Goal: Repairing my home (Motorhome) to secure a future for my daughter, Emily-Violet, and give back to a community that saved me.
Hi, I’m Nick. Over the last ten or so years, I’ve fought through the kinds of mountains that look impossible from the bottom: losing five close family members, surviving homelessness, and managing the daily hurdles of BPD and memory loss.
I am so close to the finish line, but I’ve hit a final roadblock. My motorhome—my only home—needs critical repairs to be safe and sustainable.
Why This Matters Now
After a breakdown in 2024, my "protective factor" kicked in: my daughter. I’ve moved 150 miles to renovate my van and prepare for a permanent relocation to a small, tranquil village in Portugal where I’ve already begun integrating and helping the locals.
To get there by 20th April 2026, I need to bring my van up to a habitable, roadworthy standard. Once there, I plan to:
- Teach English: I’m seeking a TEFL certification to offer free lessons to the village.
- Create Community: Use my Performing Arts degree to start a local theatre project.
- Support My Daughter: Build a secure, mobile base so Emily-Violet always has a safe place with her dad.
Where the Funds Go (£5,000 Target)
I have spent the last few months salvaging parts and DIY-ing on a tiny budget, but I cannot "hand-make" safety. Your donations will cover:
- Engine & Safety: Diesel injectors, starter motor, brakes, and a full gas safety certification & habitation service (£1,800+).
- Habitation: Window replacements, floor repairs, new cushions & covers and secure locks (£2,500+).
- Sustainability: TEFL Certification and flights to ensure I can return to the UK monthly to see my daughter (£650+).
Paying it Forward
I am not just asking for a "handout"; I am asking for a "hand-up."
By helping me fix this van, you are enabling me to provide for my daughter and provide free education and arts to a rural community that welcomed me when I had nothing.
Every pound helps me get one mile closer to Emily-Violet’s future.
Even if you can't donate, sharing this link means the world to me. Thank you for taking your time to read my story & take a look at the extra pictures below of my work so far!
(I have a fuller and more in-depth version which I am happy to share, should you wish to read it and understand more of my story.)
