Hi everyone! My name is Nicholas Durbala, and I’m a Life Scout from Troop 941, working toward earning my Eagle Scout rank. For my Eagle Project, I’m raising funds to help the Foothill High School Wrestling Team by building new wooden mat corner protectors for their tournaments.
I’ve been in Scouting since first grade, starting as a Tiger Cub and growing up through the program. Over the years, Scouting has taught me leadership, responsibility, and how to give back to my community. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement a Scout can earn, and it represents years of commitment, personal growth, and community service. To earn it, I have to plan and lead a service project that benefits others — and that’s what this project is all about.
At tournaments, coaches sit right at the edges of the mats, and the legs of their chairs sometimes poke holes or tear the mat surface. My project will help fix that! I’ll be building sturdy wooden corner protectors that go under the corners of the mats so the chairs rest on the wood instead of the mat itself.
Each corner piece will be sanded smooth and painted red and green, following the official wrestling colors to mark boundaries clearly. These protectors will keep the mats safe, make tournaments look more professional, and show off some Foothill pride.
To complete this project, I’m raising $1,300 to cover materials like wood, screws, paint, and finishing supplies. I’ll be leading a team of volunteers to build, sand, and paint everything on Saturday, April 18th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal and for supporting my Eagle Project!
Even if you can’t donate, please share this page to help spread the word.
Yours in Scouting,
