As many of you know, our beloved community member Nick Shick is moving back to Canada this month. For the past six years, Nick has served as Studio Manager at Kala Art Institute, transforming and improving every corner of the studio.

We’ve seen Nick pour his heart into upgrading and maintaining equipment, implementing better systems and standards, improving safety and accessibility, coordinating field trips for visiting artists, and building community. His expertise and generous guidance across a wide range of printmaking techniques have supported and inspired countless local and visiting artists.

Beyond his work at Kala, Nick has become a dear friend to many, and an invaluable member of the Bay Area arts community and beyond.

Now, as Nick prepares for this big move, we have an opportunity to show our appreciation. With the cost of transporting his belongings, driving his own car cross-country, and securing temporary housing, the expenses add up quickly. To help ease the burden, members of the Kala community have launched this page to support Nick during this move.
