My name is Kendra Graham and I am calling on your generosity on behalf of my SIL, Nichole Powell, and her family. On August 10, intense rainfall hit Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While some of the city came out with little to no damage, their street was one of the hardest hit by the storm- their house took on feet of water- completely flooding their basement and spilling onto their main floor. They've lost everything- 2 cars, appliances (including water heater and furnace), furniture, toys, clothing, a beloved pet bunny. They've had to pull out their drywall, flooring, and other house finishings. Due to how homeowners insurance works when you don't live in a typical flood zone, their insurance will cover none of the repairs. Their car insurance policy also won't cover replacing their vehicles. While we are so incredibly grateful they are all safe, the road forward to getting back on their feet is daunting- it will take a village.
As they sort through the rubble and take initial steps to clean up and fix their house and make decisions about how to move forward, I ask you to consider what role you might play in easing the burden of this devastating disaster. Jesus said the world would know who his disciples are by the way they love one another- body of Christ, let's rally around those facing need and be the literal hands and feet of Christ. We trust in the Lord's perfect provision for them and believe they will come out the other side of this having experienced his goodness. Would you be a part of his provision for them?
Please feel free to reach out to me with questions or if you have other resources/abilities that may help Nichole and her family out.
