As part of Indie News Week which runs from 15-21 June 2026 we are asking anyone who appreciates our local news service and like us, want Newry to flourish, to consider making a donation, no matter how small.

We are delighted that we have a profile that enables us to showcase our wonderful city and its people to the world via our website and massive social media presence.

Newry.ie is a news provider you can trust. We constantly promote every aspect of our city's life - from local achievers, to Newry born businesses, to our wonderful community groups, to what's happening on the social scene. We also strive to hold our public bodies to account in any way we can.

Support Newry.ie

Newry.ie is a social enterprise and while our aim is to support and promote our community, sometimes we need a little support ourselves.

We ultimately want to expand our offering but currently we just need to keep ourselves ticking over, something which is proving increasingly difficult.

Keeping the local community up to date is a full time job for our editor Columba O'Hare who currently is our sole employee.

We often point out that if every one of our 41,000 Facebook followers donated just £1, our financial concerns would be gone for the foreseeable future.

Newry.ie is paid for by a mix of advertising, funding, a contract with Google and much appreciated donations but currently there is not enough in the coffers to keep us afloat.

Between wages, insurance, web hosting and development and equipment costs providing a reliable and trustworthy news service is not cheap.

Just a few weeks ago we lost both our main cameras due to them getting a severe wetting at the Ulster Final - They are unrepairable. Yes in hindsight it was stupid to allow them to get so wet but the result is the same and professional camera insurance costs are too prohibitive year on year.
