I want to give my son a chance to thrive. He's been battling demons only he knows about, and they have led him down a path few come back from. He's battled addiction and nearly lost many times. We lost his mother due to health problems, since he's been down and he is determined to do the right thing. He wants to build a life she would be proud of. He deserves a chance at redemption.
He messed up pretty bad and hurt someone he cared about. The drugs had him in a bad spot, and in a moment, he made a tragic choice to hurt his friend. He's paid his debt to society and during the process done what he can to better himself. He's gotten to know a higher power and earned his GED as well as a certificate for small engine repair. He has goals. He has a plan.
But the State of California only gives an inmate $200 to live on upon release. That won't get him much but a change of clothes and maybe a pair of shoes. Maybe...
I am providing him a camper to live in. It's what I can do, but he will need a place to park it and live in it. Space rent and deposit are gonna be about $1500. I just want to cover his first month's rent, so he can get on his feet and hopefully a bit extra that he can buy food.
If you know Nelson, you know his heart. He'd do anything in his power to help someone he loves. I can't help him on my own, though. I wish I could. But he needs our help.
Help me to give him a fighting chance. Help me to help him become the man he wants to be.
Thank you for reading.
