Our lives were forever changed on October 16, 2025. My stepdad was involved in a tragic accident on Route 11 in Ohio — an accident that took the life of a State Trooper and left my stepdad fighting for his own. In the aftermath, he suffered severe injuries, and doctors had to amputate his leg to save his life.

Words can’t begin to express the pain, shock, and heartbreak our family is feeling. Our hearts ache for the Trooper’s family, for their unimaginable loss, and for the hero who gave his life in the line of duty. We will never forget his sacrifice and service.

As we face the long road ahead, our family is trying to navigate a new reality. My stepdad is strong, but the journey to recovery — both physically and emotionally — will be long and difficult. Our hearts are heavy, but they are also full of gratitude: for the medical teams who acted quickly, for the people who stopped to help, and for every message, prayer, and gesture of kindness we’ve received.
