We are Bancroft, a South Minneapolis neighborhood with tree lined streets, boulevard gardens, schools, businesses, houses of worship, parks, playgrounds, and a tight-knit community of people of all ages, from all walks of life.
On a typical day, neighbors might stop and chat on the sidewalk while walking their dogs, or high-five in the street after pushing a car out of a snow bank. But these are not typical days in Bancroft. Federal agents harass our businesses and circle our schools, drones buzz over our churches and food banks, and people are being ripped out of our community. It is unsafe for many of our beloved neighbors to leave their homes, which means kids aren’t going to school and the adults in their households aren’t able to work and earn their living. The kids who are still able to attend their respective schools are left skaken and return home each day wondering where their friends have gone and concerned for their safety. Our wonderful neighborhood has become a frightening and unsafe place for many among us.
We’ve rolled up our sleeves and gotten to work providing these folks with the basic necessities they need to shelter in place, stay afloat, and stay alive. We are rallying around them with sustenance, practical support, and a clear message that they are not alone, that we will do everything we can to keep them safe, and that Bancroft loves them.
Please help us help our neighbors. We invite you to join us in standing in solidarity and ACTION for our neighbors. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps create a safer, more welcoming community for all. Together, we can make a real difference and show our neighbors that they are not alone. Your donation is love in action!
