Support Needed for Property Loss after Flooding

Hi, my family has been impacted by the San Antonio flooding. My husband got caught in floodwaters and thankfully is ok. We’re beyond grateful for that. Unfortunately, our car has been deemed a total loss. It was our family vehicle. We have a special needs daughter who requires 3 appointments a week. Her speech and occupational therapy are vital for her to maintain the tremendous progress she’s made in her speech and behavior. Without a family vehicle that can fit the 5 of us and be available for me to use during my husband’s work week, the logistics of maintaining those appointments are difficult.

This setback has also occurred immediately after we had to pay for repairs on the one working vehicle we do have. Last month, someone caused $1,500 in damages to our small commuter car by attempting to steal it. And seemingly, bad things do come in threes as just a couple of weeks prior to that, my mother died after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. So, the financial and emotional setbacks have very much compounded lately. From funeral expenses, vehicle repairs, and now having a totaled car, this past month has felt very hard.

We are beyond grateful for our health and understand how much worse this could’ve been. We appreciate any act of generosity you can spare to help us through this time. I do my best to put kindness into the world and try to help at every opportunity. I didn’t anticipate having to reach out like this to all of you. And I hope for better times ahead for us all throughout the remainder of this year.
