Support Needed For A Disabled Mother And Child
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rob Clough. My ex-wife, Lou Jent, needs our support for a crisis point in their life right now. For anyone who doesn’t know them: Lou is a brilliant trans non-binary, autistic/ADHD, mixed Indigenous, disabled, TBI survivor, self-/advocate, writer/artist, and, most importantly to them, the mother to the light of our lives. That light is our astonishingly creative 14-year-old homeschooled artist and AuHD kiddo, Pen. Lou is a caring member of their extended queer, neurodivergent, anti-racism, Native, and disabled communities and spends much of their time volunteering (including social justice graphic design), offering advice and support (they call it Neuro-Doula work) and simply giving of themselves to those in need. Please consider returning this kindness to them if you can.
What Lou needs right now is a chance to get out from under a financial crisis and get ahead as they finish educational opportunities and grow their own innovative community organization (http://www.BrainCave.org). The crisis that has arisen is that the due dates for many of their needs (read on below) are imminent and simultaneous. That's why they can use your support!
Lou has been underhoused for nearly a year and recently signed a lease for an ideal apartment for themself and Pen. Unfortunately, Lou was also involved in a wreck last year that has them tied up in legal red tape as well as needing certain items to restore the driveability of their car. In addition, they need to get their car current with regard to monthly payments, a situation that occurred due to reduced hours as a nanny for neurodivergent children.
Being disabled and being the parent of a disabled child is in itself a full-time job! The significance of that isn’t that this is unpaid work. Between teaching, wrangling with insurance, making phone calls to doctors and pharmacies, advocating for themself and Pen, and taking themself and Pen to appointments, Lou cannot attend a daytime, in-person, full-time job. They are currently looking for the right remote position to provide income for our family, but this has become more difficult as COVID restrictions ease. They are working with a Ticket-to-Work organization that attempts to find placement for disabled job seekers, as well as trying to attain Agile Project Management / Data Analytics certification.
Please donate what you can, and share this widely. My family needs your support. I already have so much gratitude for those of you who will read this and understand their plight. Thank you!
