My Granddaughter Nava Needs Your Help, We’re Fighting for Her Life
Hello, my name is Charlita Waters, and I’m reaching out today with a heart full of love and a spirit that’s been humbled by life’s sudden turns. The sweet little girl you see in these photos is my 4-year-old granddaughter, Nava. A recent trip to the emergency room for what was assumed to be a headache was discovered to be a craniopharyngioma (a rare type of brain tumor) that required emergency neurosurgery. Nava underwent a 7 hour frontoparietal craniotomy which involved surgically removing a portion of the skull to access the brain to remove the tumor. After a few difficult nights, she’s thankfully on the road to recovery. The journey ahead is long and uncertain but Nava is strong.
This crisis has turned our world upside down. Nava’s parents are doing everything they can, but the emotional and financial weight is overwhelming. They’re now facing the possibility of losing their home because they’ve fallen behind on rent. The reality is simple, when it came down to choosing between work and being at their daughter’s hospital bedside, they chose Nava, every time.
Wouldn’t you?
Nava has siblings, a sister and three brothers, who also need love, stability, and care during this time. The family is trying to hold everything together, but they need help. They’re not asking for luxuries. They just need to keep a roof over their heads, gas in the car to get to medical appointments, and support to get through this incredibly difficult chapter.
Both parents work hard. They’ve done their best to keep things afloat, but no one is ever prepared for something like this. This GoFundMe is a last resort, not because we’re giving up, but because we’re fighting to give Nava the life she deserves.
We are asking, with everything in us, for your help. If you’ve ever had to choose between survival and your child’s well-being, you understand this moment. If you’ve ever said, “I don’t know how we’re going to make it, but we have to,” then you’ve lived this pain.
Please, if you can, help us give Nava a fighting chance at healing surrounded by her family and love. Every donation, every share, every prayer means more than words can say.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
