Help Us Bring Haven Home Forever
Our journey to adopt Haven has been long, hard, and costly. Our sweet boy is already well over two and we are still fighting to adopt. Although we never imagined it would take this long, we have been grateful for every second spent with him.
From the first day we started to care for Haven, we’ve been his safe place, his comfort, his Mom and Dad. He adores his siblings, Ava and Theo, and our greatest desire is to give him the permanent, loving home he already knows and deserves. We have had the privilege of experiencing all the firsts - the first steps, words, giggles...even the not so fun firsts. Nathan and I have bandaged every boo boo, wiped every runny nose, and sat on the bathroom floor through midnight into early hours as the shower filled the room with steam to help ease his stuffy nose (if you're a parent you know this is the best hack). Even though we are currently his legal care takers, in our hearts and through our loving actions, we have fully taken on the role as his parents and are ready to legally be Haven's Mom and Dad.
After years of legal proceedings, we are finally approaching the finish line. Unfortunately, we are facing new hurdles. Our trial dates are now set for September, which has brought a sudden and urgent wave of legal and adoption-related expenses.
We’ve been told the estimated amount that we must raise quickly to cover the following expenses is $30,000-$40,000. This amount is needed between now and the trial date. Some of the fees include, but are not limited to the following:
Court fees
Attorney costs
Case Studies
We are choosing to believe in the best possible outcome. We’re trusting that God is still making a way, even in the unknown, and we are holding onto hope that soon we’ll no longer be fighting to adopt Haven—we’ll be celebrating that he’s fully, legally, and forever our son!
We are so thankful for any monetary gift, but most importantly we ask for your prayers. Thank you for standing with us in this deeply personal and important journey.
With love and gratitude,
Nathan and Hannah Straughan
