Help us support Nate, Sarah, TJ, and Lucia, who are trying to move forward after unimaginable loss.

On New Year's Eve, 2019, Nate's mom Kacie was rushed to surgery, diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer, and had two thirds of her colon removed that night. Just two years later in February of 2022, Nate's dad Erik went to the ER with stomach pain and was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer as well. After years of the most hard fought battle, Kacie passed in August 2023. Erik was so brave after Kacie's passing - he solo parented his and Kacie's only son Nate, worked his job as a civil engineer for a time, all while continuing to fight his own battle with cancer. We are so sad to say that this past week, on January 7, 2026, the cancer took Erik too.

Sarah met Kacie and Erik when they hired her to be Nate's nanny when Nate was just 6 months old. Over the years, Sarah became such an integral and trusted member of their family that when they got sick, they asked her to be their son's guardian. Sarah has since married her wonderful husband TJ, and in October of last year they welcomed baby Lucia. Nate loves Sarah, TJ, and Lucia and he is adjusting as well as he possibly could under the circumstances.

Since Nate moved in with Sarah and TJ full time, it's become clear that they need a larger space. This fundraiser is to help ease the burden of moving costs and time off work to adjust to their new normal, especially in the midst of estate settling, house selling, and grieving. Thank you for continuing to support this beautiful family, especially Nate, who has experienced more grief than any young boy should have to. Let's show him that he still has a village that loves him and supports him.
