Nadia has always made everyone around her feel cared for, and has a way of making everyone feel like she's their mom. She has devoted her life to her family, all animals, and her community. She radiates warmth and kindness to everyone she encounters--from being the most patient stay-at-home mother to 6 kids, to inviting the barista at her Starbucks to our family Thanksgiving because he didn't have somewhere to go for the holiday. She welcomed 6 new partners into our family over the years as though they were always a part of it, and as we grew up she's become one of our best friends. When her mother was in a care facility for dementia, she moved across the country to be her caregiver instead so her mother could be with family, even if her mother didn't always recognize her. Everything Nadia does is for other people, with no expectations in return.
Over the last 6 months, Nadia has been fighting uphill against a Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis. Through 2 rounds of chemo she has been hopeful and brave, but her path has been cut short, and we are reaching its end. As a family, we are heartbroken. We are losing our matriarch, and heading into a lot of uncertainty. Between medical expenses, lost income, memorial, and unexpected expenses, our family is struggling with financial burden on top of moving through the hardest part of our lives.
We know so many people who love Nadia, and who have asked how they can help our family through this unimaginably awful period. We want to set up this fund to provide an opportunity for people to help, and to support our family through this time. We are incredibly grateful for any contribution made, and appreciate everyone's kindness through all of this.
