London Marathon - Support Myeloma UK

On 21st April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon to help raise much needed funds for Myeloma UK.

In September 2022, my mother-in-law Tracey Angus was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer that is incurable but treatable. She completed four cycles of D-VTD treatment at Pilgrim Hospital Boston, Lincolnshire twice a week as well as taking several chemotherapy medications. Following this, in March 2023 she had an Autologous Stem cell transplant with high dose chemotherapy at Nottingham City Hospital. She then completed two further consolidation courses of the D-VTD treatment and was finally in remission in June 2023. She continues to take maintenance medication and has blood tests monthly to check whether the Myeloma has returned. She has since returned to her much loved job working as a Breast Pain Co-Ordinator at The United Hospital Trust (ULHT) in Lincolnshire.

Multiple Myeloma is a blood cancer arising from plasma cells. Approximately 24,000 people are living with Myeloma in the UK. It accounts for 15% of blood cancers. Myeloma UK advances the discovery of effective treatments, with an aim of finding a cure. That is what patients want, it's what they deserve. Myeloma UK is a charity solely funded by supporters. Every penny you give helps provide comfort and reassurance to people affected by myeloma and funds research that improves diagnoses, treatment, and care.

Myeloma UK have been there to support Tracey throughout her treatment. This is why it’s so important for us to give back to them so that they can continue to do this incredibly important work, to improve treatment and hopefully one day find a cure.
