My uncle came to the U.S. with nothing but the clothes on his back, escaping a small town where he had exhausted all available opportunities. His sister—my mother—was left to care for me alone when I was just 9 years old. Despite the risks of entering the country, my uncle knew there was nothing left for him back home, and my mother’s situation tipped the scale for him. Once he arrived, all he did was work. He made a strong effort to learn English, working his way up from dishwasher to cook, eventually earning high-level roles in many restaurants. Unfortunately, because he did not have the necessary documentation, it wasn’t possible for him to officially hold managerial positions. Over the years, he tried his best to obtain legal residency, but he was misled by multiple scams. Nothing ever worked—until now. He finally found a trustworthy lawyer who has helped him navigate the complex paperwork and court hearings, always keeping him informed and supported. Just this past week, he had his final court hearing, which concluded with an official yes—he has been approved to become a legal resident of the United States! However, due to fines related to working without documentation for many years, he now needs financial help to complete the process. My uncle is a hard-working, honest man who has always abided by the law and done his best to support our family. If you are able to spare anything during this time, it would mean the world to us. From my family to yours, thank you—and please keep us in your prayers
