My name is Ellen and as part of a life long dream I will be travelling to Mombasa,Kenya for 10 days in January 2026 alongside my dad and cousin to volunteer in building a school for young girls who have not been given the opportunity to have an education or safe upbringing.75% of my target will go towards materials for building the school.The Ray of Sunshine is a charity set up by Olive Halpin who has dedicated and devoted her life to helping these children.My dad has travelled along side Olive for the last 6 years volunteering and I have decided this year is my chance to partake.This isn’t just a charity it’s a way to freedom for these children allowing them to get an education and a chance to become independent and go out on their own.I have been privileged to receive an amazing education in Ireland and now as a trainee nurse I think it’s important to gain experience in all aspects.
