Hi All,

Calling on my people to help support a local family in need.

Through School on Wheels , a nonprofit that matches volunteer tutors with students experiencing homelessness across LA, I’ve been tutoring a wonderful middle schooler for the past year+. We’ve spent hours together working through math problems and practicing reading, he's taught me all about Roblox and we've bonded over the Celtics (we’re both big Jayson Tatum fans - he’s from their shared hometown of St. Louis).

My student and his older brother, a high school sophomore, are both aspiring actors - they’ve even had small roles on Abbott Elementary! They’re hardworking and deeply committed to school, their goals and to caring for each other and their mom. Their mother, who is raising them on her own while also attending school herself, recently had to stop working for several months after undergoing multiple surgeries.

While the family is now in stable housing, they’ve been hit hard by the loss of SNAP benefits and their mom’s temporary inability to work. I’ve been helping connect them with local resources, but I’d also like to rally my community to offer direct support to help them stay secure and hopeful through the end of the year.

Donations will go toward groceries, household essentials and bill assistance, primarily through local gift cards. If you’re in LA and would prefer to contribute food, clothes or other items directly, please email me directly so I can coordinate.
