Hi, I’m Iman — the middle sibling to my older sister, Ijah, and our younger brother Cahon.
I’ve created this GoFundMe to help my sister leave a domestic violence situation and relocate her and her two young children from New Zealand to Australia, where she can be surrounded by love and real support — something we haven't had in quite some time.
After losing our mum to cancer in 2014, we were left with no real parental guidance. Our dad was absent, and the rest of our family turned their backs, leaving us to fend for ourselves during the most vulnerable time of our lives. Ijah was only 21 at the time and three months pregnant with her first child.
Our only constant was our nan. For over a decade, she helped Ijah raise her children — cooking, cleaning, and offering emotional support — until she unfortunately passed away suddenly in December 2024. Her passing was another massive loss for our already fractured little family.
Things worsened last year when Ijah’s partner lashed out violently, throwing her down a staircase and fracturing her knee. She was unable to work, care for her children properly, or manage her household responsibilities. As a result, rental arrears began to build up, and she’s now facing immediate eviction from her government housing.
This fundraiser is a lifeline — a chance to remove Ijah and her kids from harm, reunite her with her siblings in Australia, and finally give her the safe, stable foundation she has never had.
The $60,000 goal will go toward:
Clearing rental arrears and essential debts
Relocation costs to Australia
Rent (6 months upfront)
Groceries and essential living costs
A car for independence
Furniture and household items
Therapy and mental health support
Kids’ school activities and sports
Just to name a few.
No one should have to live in fear, especially with young children. This is about survival — but it’s also about healing, rebuilding, and giving Ijah and her kids the chance at a peaceful life. I’ll be contributing what I can financially too, but my brother and I can’t do this alone.
If you’re not in a position to donate, I completely understand! Please share this fundraiser. Every dollar, every share and every kind word helps.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and for your kindness.
— Iman
