Update 9/3/24:

I want to begin by saying thank you all very much for your contributions over the summer for Alyssia and her family.

 As for the update..
It is with the heaviest of hearts as I share that we unfortunately had to say goodbye to sweet Dion, the youngest twin, last Thursday 8/29. There are no words to express how truly heart wrenching this has been for Alyssia, Kyle, and their loved ones. Please feel free to send them your love and support during this difficult time.

If you’d like to help/support them but aren’t sure how, here are ways that you can:
  • By bringing by food/meals
  • Ubereats/Grubhub gift cards
  • Contributing to the go fund me to alleviate some of the financial burden of medical expenses
  • Cleaning services gift cards

Please feel free to reach out to me, Victoria, if you have any questions. Thank you all for your time in reading this and for any additional support.

Lastly,
Dion’s service will be held this Friday at 9/6 at 2pm, at WellStar Cobb Funeral Home.
They are requesting that you wear the color purple for NICU strong
Address is:

Hello all,

Meet my amazing sister, Alyssia, who I've been fortunate enough to call my best friend since we were kids! She is married to one of the best men I've ever met in my life, Kyle, whom I now have the pleasure of calling my brother-in-law. They have two incredible "tiny" humans they have brought into the world, who are the most incredible souls (and I am extremely fortunate to get to love them and be their aunt)!

We found out at the end of February that she is expanding our sweet little family and she's expecting twin boys due in late August! We've been beyond excited to welcome two more little loves into our lives/family!

With that said, she's faced some very scary complications. At the 19-week appointment, we received the news that her twins had a condition called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). Without immediate intervention, the likelihood of survival for each baby with this condition was extremely low at about 10%. In order to increase the survival rate for both, or even one baby, she had to have emergency surgery ASAP. Unfortunately, only a handful of doctors in the U.S. perform the TTTS surgery. Within 48 hours, we were able to get her to Houston, Texas and she successfully had the surgery! We all celebrated the success of the surgery, but unfortunately that celebration was short lived. Only 8 days after the surgery and at only 20 weeks gestation, in the early hours into Mother's Day, Alyssia's water broke as a complication from the surgery. Over the next seven days we had to brace ourselves as we were inundated with scary scenarios and statistics about what could happen next.

My amazing sister is incredibly resilient and strong, and her unborn twins are proving to be just as resilient! Every day is a significant victory right now, and she is defying the odds! However, this means she will need to remain on bed rest at the hospital until she reaches a goal of 36 weeks. For reference, on 5/22/24 she will officially be 22 weeks along, so we have a long road ahead of us in the hospital. Due to this, she has had to take leave from work for the foreseeable future. I am starting this GoFundMe with the aim of supplementing some of her anticipated income that she was relying on before facing these recent challenges plus assist with all the extra medical expenses not covered by their insurance.

Any support whether it be a financial contribution, sharing this post, checking in to see what they need for the babies (such as double stroller, car seat, etc.), or even your positive thoughts/prayers would be immensely appreciated for her, her family, and the unborn twins! Thank you for any contribution and taking the time to read this. I hope you have a beautiful day/week!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you'd like an update on how she and the babies are doing, and I will happily provide an update for you! Thank you all again!
