As you know, these are strange and trying times. The SNAP benefits so many rely on have stopped, and food banks in every community are feeling the strain as our friends and neighbors struggle to feed themselves and their children, especially out here in California where -- let's face it -- things are not cheap. But, it occurs to me that I can maybe help in some small way because, unlike most Californians, I have access to the military commissary here on the Monterey Peninsula, which means I can get my hands on basic food stuffs at substantially discounted prices. So, my idea is simple. I'm gonna put some money together, take it to the commissary, buy a bunch of non-perishable food items that my local food bank told me it needed, and then I'm gonna deliver it all to the food bank in Salinas for distribution to the community. If you're willing to throw in, that'd be awesome. I can make a dollar go a long way at the commissary, and if you're inclined to add yours to mine, this whole effort will be that much more effective. Thanks in advance.
