Support My Nephew's Big Move!

Hey Friends,

I’m reaching out to ask for your support in helping my nephew, Ben and his girlfriend Lilly, who are setting out to move from South Carolina to Seattle, WA.

This move is important not only because of their questionable safety in the south, both living openly as trans, but because of the lack of services, scarcity of community and shortage of opportunities offered to these two that impact their futures. This move represents a significant step toward pursuing a career in tech for Lilly as she has recently finished a computer science degree with no local prospects in the field and for Ben it means building community with other trans people of color like himself. I believe giving him the chance to tap into the resources of a larger community where he can not only receive but also contribute to a larger community will radically change his life.

As you can imagine, relocating across the country comes with its challenges, both emotionally and financially. To help ease this transition, I am asking for your support on their behalf.

Both Ben and Lily have a lot of pride and struggle asking for help. They have been working hard to make this move a reality, saving close to 800 dollars on minimum wage jobs in the past 4 months. And with moving costs like housing deposits, food and gas money for the trip and initial living expenses they could use some help.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean a lot to me. It will help them focus on settling in and starting this new chapter of their lives instead of immediately worrying about funding.
