Hi friends, family, and community! After several years of struggling with gender identity, gender presentation, and life in general, I finally have the opportunity to get top surgery to feel more comfortable in my own body and start a new chapter of Me.
While I am very fortunate to be employed and have health insurance, I am still very much paycheck to paycheck and am having a hard time putting money aside for the surgery because of rent, bills, student loan payments, and cost of living in general since I live in my own.
Surgery costs include: the medical bill itself (likely my full deductible if not more), supplies for the healing process, time off from work, and likely some transportation-related costs to and from appointments until I can drive myself. This also comes at a time where I am trying to get other health issues diagnosed which requires a multitude of specialist appointments which means copays on copays on copays.
I am generally not one to ask for help but this is something so crucial for me at this time and it feels impossible to tackle alone.
Anything helps. Thank you for your time and please share with a friend <3
