Hi, my name is Will Cashen.

I’m hoping you can help me fundraise for Cambodian school children.

The purpose

Every year, students from Ivanhoe Grammar can participate in a service trip to Cambodia. The purpose of the trip is to positively contribute to the lives of the Cambodian school children and their local community. We do this through teaching English, helping with the maintenance of school grounds, painting murals, gardening, constructing equipment and assisting where required.

I will also be chaperoning Cambodian children to the city of Ankor to participate in a football tournament with children from other villages. Most students have never left their village, which makes this annual event a highlight for the children. It is an event that I’m also really looking forward to.

Through immersion in local culture, including staying in a local village, I hope to learn about Cambodian culture, broaden my horizons and come home with a deeper understanding and appreciation of how others live, making me grateful for my own life.

Fundraising

All Ivanhoe students going on the trip need to raise $550. This money does not pay for the trip – it goes directly to supporting Cambodian students. Money raised is given to local schools, who fund projects and scholarships, Happy Football NGO and the 48 Couleurs teaching program.

How you can help

To raise my $550, my two friends and I are running 20km. This is a distance I have never run before and will challenge me. I am running to raise awareness and to build brighter futures for Cambodian children.

I would appreciate any donation in support of my task.
