Hi everyone,
Im a mom from Maine and Im reaching out because my daughter is in a really tough spot right now and I just dont know what else to do. She moved to Oregon with her girlfriend a little while ago. Theyre living in their small van at a campground right on the border and things have been piling up bad. They are almost out of money and they have very little food left. Its been scary for them.
My daughter just got a job which is great but she cant save anything yet because everything keeps going wrong. She has two cats that they love so much and they wont give them up. She’s been gone less than a month and it’s just its been one thing after another. Her girlfriend lost her wallet a couple weeks ago with a lot of cash in it. Then her laptop broke because one of the cats knocked it off the bed and thats what she uses for her full time remote job. And just recently my daughter got a concussion so shes dealing with headaches and all that on top of trying to figure out where theyre going to sleep as the weather starts getting warmer because the air-conditioning in the van doesn’t work with the inverter and they have to make sure the cats don’t overheat.
She has been a mess for years but lately she came out of it. She got on the right meds and she really wants to make something of herself. For the first time in a long time shes excited about her future and she keeps telling me Mom I finally feel like I can do this. But it’s so hard when youre hungry and you dont know where youre going to sleep next. I have been sending her what I can for food every day but it’s getting hard on me too and I cant keep doing it forever.
They need help with groceries and gas and finding a place to live. They need a new laptop so her girlfriend can keep working. They need to get a little bit ahead so they can save for rent and not have to worry every single night. Any amount helps even five or ten dollars it all adds up to food or a few more nights at the campground. If you cant give anything just sharing this would mean a lot.
This isnt about giving them a handout. Its about giving them a little hand up while my daughter is finally trying to stand on her own. Shes worked so hard to get to this point and I dont want her to lose it now just because things got tight.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Ill try to keep everyone updated with how theyre doing and any progress they make. Your kindness could really make the difference for them and their two cats.
