In 2023, I was thrilled to be accepted into the Peace Corps, ready to embark on a journey of service and growth. However, just two months before my departure, my conditional offer was revoked due to a mental health diagnosis. Despite the support from employers, mentors, and health care professionals, I was unable to change their decision. This setback was deeply disappointing, but it also fueled my determination to continue pursuing my passion for international development and climate action.
In 2024, I discovered the Back Country Trails Program (BCTP) and immediately felt a sense of purpose. The chance to live in remote wilderness for six months—completely sober, without technology, and surrounded by nature—felt like the perfect way to grow, heal, and contribute. Building trails that will give communities access to the outdoors for years to come is an honor, and I am excited to gain the skills and experience that will prepare me for the Peace Corps and beyond.
Preparing for this adventure has required significant investment in gear and supplies, and the costs have added up quickly. I have created a detailed breakdown of my expenses to be transparent about how funds will be used. While there is no obligation to donate, any support you can offer will help me make the most of this life-changing opportunity. I am grateful for your consideration and for the many blessings in my life. Thank you for being part of my journey!
